Just sayin' hello (again!)

Todays card meets both Geeta's 'use it multiple ways' challenge and Glenda's 'Random Amusing Challenge' of the week. Glenda created a layout challenge so I thought I'd play along. I was gonna try and be all clever and turn the card on its side or something but decided the original sketch actually worked just fine for me. Why mess with a good thing, right? If you want to play along with Glenda's challenge, just click the link I provided above and follow the instructions provided on her post.

Someone left a comment on my blog looking for instructions on how to change the Slice setting from 'cut' to 'draw/emboss.' I created a little tutorial for this but am having trouble uploading it to Blogger. I think I have to download a program that will help me and just haven't had the chance to do that yet. I think my file is a little big and I don't know how to shrink it. In the meantime, go to your 'Settings' as if you were going to home your blade. Use your double arrow keys at the bottom and hit it until you see 'Cutting Mode'. Use your single arrow button to change the mode to your desired setting. Once you see your desired mode on the screen, just go back to the menu button and proceed as you normally would. Easy Peasy, Mac n Cheesy.

Now I'm off to the little league fields for a work party.

Hello again!

Here's another card using the 'hello!' sentiment from the Clear Labels Set. I created a grid pattern using my Scor-Pal after stamping the butterflies with Colorbox Chalk Cat Eyes. We've had a bit of sun around here (finally!) and it's putting me in the mood for spring. The weather's been unusually warm for this time of year and it's confusing all the plants and trees. I suppose we can thank El Nino for that.

I've got another sample to post tomorrow that also meets Glenda's Random Amusing Challenge. See you then!

Hello!

I love looking at online stamping galleries. You can get so inspired by the ideas that someone else creates. When I'm stuck in a rut, I turn to the galleries and just start out by CASEing a card. I can't remember exactly what CASE stands for but it basically means to copy the card and change a few things up. I found this wonderful card created by Laura Williams and thought, "Hey, I can do that with some A Muse stamps!" So I did. I cut some A Muse 8.5" x 11" lined paper into a 4-bar notecard size, stamped the flowers, the sentiment (from the labels clear set), distressed the edges, added some ribbon and silver Stickles.

Now the other cool thing about this card is it meets Geeta's challenge out on the A Muse Lounge. I'm going to be posting a couple more cards using this same sentiment. Her challenge was to create 5 cards and I've only completed three but we'll see how it goes over the next few days to see if I can get 5 done.

Classes

Come join me tomorrow for my 'Sea of Love' class at Stampin-in-the-Rain. Above is just an example of the fun cards we'll be making. This one is an interactive card....like the viewfinder card idea. I call it a spinner card cuz it spins! Whee! Call the store directly to reserve your spot (425 408-9050). If you can't make this one, I've got another one on the 31st with a different theme that's just as much fun.

Slice class rescheduled!!

My January Slice class has been rescheduled for January 29th at Lasting Memories in Lynnwood. We'll make this adorable (if I do say so myself!) 3-panel wall hanging using the Vintage Findings cartridge. If you don't already have this cartridge you can get it for 25% off when you purchase it and sign up for the class at the same time. I can't tell you how much I love this cartridge!! Not only are the images fun but the font is FABULOUS!!!! The full sample is hanging up in the store if you want to see it.

Hope to see you there!!

Sea of Love - Day 5 Valentine Treats

I almost missed this one! I didn't realize we had an amuse-bouche for valentine treats so I had to hurry up this morning and get creating before I even had my coffee. Lucky for me I had already ordered some of these fun treat cups from SU back in November so they were the first thing I thought of. This being a 'sea' related release, the natural thing to put inside were Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Crackers.

I used our new 8.5" x 11" navy paper and cut it to 3.5" x 11". I scored at 5", 5.5", and 6", then created an accordion fold in the middle. Set a little zip-closure baggie with goldfish crackers inside and stuck that to the package using my Scor-Tape. Then I closed it up, punched two holes, and threaded some A Muse red stitched grosgrain ribbon through it. Voila!

Sea of Love - Day 4 Elegant Greetings

Today's post features a more elegant style. I thought this beautiful shell lended itself to a clean and simple design. To bring it out a little more, I stamped it in Brilliance Graphite Black ink (heat set) onto some A Muse white shimmer cardstock, then layered that onto some blue solid shimmer couture. I used a natural white 4-bar notecard for my base. Add a pretty little pearl, some yummy Ocean polka dot sheer ribbon, your favorite sentiment, and you've got yourself a quick, simple, and elegant card in a matter of minutes!

Short quick post for the day as it's time to get back into my regular routine. The holidays were nice while they were here but I always feel more comfortable knowing what my day brings. Mondays are crazy in our house with work and back-to-back baseball and basketball practices.

Sea of Love - Day 3

I don't know how many times I created a card for Day 3's post before I finally felt like I got it right. I decided to use my Slice and the Under the Sea cartridge to cut this piece of coral from A Muse Blush cardstock. Yup, you heard me right. It's 8.5" x 11" solid colored cardstock. I'm so excited to have several solid colors released as full papers. I sponged a little SU Cameo Coral along the edges of the coral, then adhered it onto a bit of Sky cardstock with lightly sanded edges. I stamped the cute little mini fishes with navy ink, then cut and glued them in place. I added a few air bubbles with micro clear Twinkle dots, then layered the whole thing on some Ocean Blue, then onto a natural white 4-bar notecard.

I love the new sentiment 'seas the day' for the empowering message it brings. Just take the day by charge and make it what you will! Seas the Day!!

Sea of Love - Day 2

How are you liking the amuse-bouches of the newest A Muse release? I just love to ooh and aah over everyone's designs. Today is especially awesome, I think. It's so hard to come up with man cards sometimes but the ladies sure have rocked today!

Stamps: 2-7198E Compass, 9-8620B Lost without you, 3-1039A Tiny heart, 3-4097C Waves

I love this compass. My idea for this card was a 'lost at sea' idea. I found a nautical map (of the Puget Sound, no less) and printed it on some brown paper bag cardstock, then punched it out to use as my tag. On the base card, I used the waves stamp and added a little floating heart. Romantic, n'est pas? Okay, well maybe that's a stretch.

Sea of Love

What better way to start off a new year than with some new stamps!! While some of you haven't yet taken down the holiday decorations, manufacturers have already moved onto the next one coming down the line. I've already spied Valentine products at Target. This fabulous A Muse release will live long past Valentine's, I tell ya. Can't go wrong with that!

Stamps: 2-4170E curling wave, 2-3141D Moby, 9-8621B true blue friend
Popsicle pink 4-bar notecard and polka dot sheer ribbon
Fiskars wave border punch

Is Moby not the cutest whale you've ever seen??? And how about that curling wave? It's so fun!! Looks great embossed in white, too! Now, see what I mean about this release outliving Valentine's Day? Keep your eye on the A Muse News Blog as well as the other A Muse Creative Team members blogs for more fun eye candy.
